The Town of Jamestown has contracted with North State Environmental of Winston Salem, NC, to assist them in completing a new pedestrian bridge and sidewalk which will link existing sidewalks in Jamestown with the Bicentennial Greenway Trail along East Fork Rd. The project represents an approximate $1.488 million investment in expanding safe pedestrian access between the Town of Jamestown and the Bicentennial Greenway Trail system. Contractors have been working in the vicinity for a couple of weeks under temporary lane closures. Beginning on Monday, FEBRUARY 3, 2020, the contractor will completely close East Fork Rd. for approximately 4 months while retaining walls, pilings, and the pedestrian bridge are constructed. Detour signs and notices will be displayed in the coming days. This will undoubtedly impact motorists in this area. The Town is notifying public safety organizations as well as local news media in an attempt to help notify motorists to plan ahead for delays or to find alternative routes.
