The Town Council of the Town of Jamestown adopted a resolution amending the property tax discount rate at their April 18, 2023 regular meeting. North Carolina General Statute 105-360(c) authorizes the governing body to establish a schedule of discounts to be applied to taxes paid prior to the due date of September 1st of the fiscal year for which such taxes are levied. The Town Council has approved a one percent (1%) discount rate for the early payment of property taxes during the months of July and August effective for the 2023 billing. The Town has recently learned that a local blogger has written an opinion piece about a number of issues; the main one being that the Town's water is contaminated. The opinion blog was sent to local residents and social media outlets via 'IssueWire', which is a paid press release website.
The Town takes claims about contaminants in the water supply very seriously and we want to be sure that accurate information is available to citizens. The Town has issued its own press release statement (available here).
This information has been shared with our partner agencies and we are all committed to providing a safe and reliable source of drinking water for all of our communities. The Town urges anyone with questions to please contact Town Hall at 336-454-1138.
The Town will begin loose leaf collection on October 24th, 2022 and will continue until February 24th, 2023. Leaves must be raked to the curb and be free of debris. Click here to read the full notice.

The City of High Point is considering options to repair or replace the dam at City Lake. They are in the process of acquiring property near the dam to help facilitate their access to the dam. The acquisition of property by a municipality (even in a neighboring jurisdiction) by negotiated sale or by eminent domain is a legal process governed by the North Carolina General Statutes and the Town of Jamestown does not have the authority to interfere. It is our understanding that the City of High Point has not finalized its plans. Our Public Services staff will continue to be in contact with the City of High Point staff to help mitigate any future impacts on our citizens during this process. For now, please direct concerns or questions to the City of High Point Public Services Director, Robby Stone, at 336-883-3217 or robby.stone@highpointnc.gov
