Town of Jamestown Amends Property Tax Discount Rate

The Town Council of the Town of Jamestown adopted a resolution amending the property tax discount rate at their April 18, 2023 regular meeting. North Carolina General Statute 105-360(c) authorizes the governing body to establish a schedule of discounts to be applied to taxes paid prior to the due date of September 1st of the fiscal year for which such taxes are levied. The Town Council has approved a one percent (1%) discount rate for the early payment of property taxes during the months of July and August effective for the 2023 billing. This discount rate will remain in effect until amended or repealed by the Town Council.

Town Responds to Claims of Contaminated Water

The Town has recently learned that a local blogger has written an opinion piece about a number of issues; the main one being that the Town's water is contaminated. The opinion blog was sent to local residents and social media outlets via 'IssueWire', which is a paid press release website.

The Town takes claims about contaminants in the water supply very seriously and we want to be sure that accurate information is available to citizens. The Town has issued its own press release statement (available here).

This information has been shared with our partner agencies and we are all committed to providing a safe and reliable source of drinking water for all of our communities. The Town urges anyone with questions to please contact Town Hall at 336-454-1138.
